Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and Pompano Beach

I adore Afro-Cuban music. I’m learning how to play this gorgeous and expressive ear candy, as I have down-time to do so—which I suppose has been in less abundance this year, with all the efforts to tour around the United States. But for what I lack in immediate frequency of practice, I make up for in geolocation currently, I suppose.

I found myself in Little Havana yesterday, within the greater Miami area, along with my friend Janice, who has been so kind as to host me for a few days and to have me play a concert for her and her friends, here, in Pompano Beach this past Saturday, not to mention, show me around her metropolitan playground. I've been to Florida a few times, but the opportunity to be here on the east side of the Florida Coast—it’s new for me. It’s been special.

Pompano is both a fish, and a city just outside of Miami and Fort Lauderdale, and regardless of whether the city or the sea life is being discussed, I’ve been spending weeks putting emphasis on the wrong syllable when pronouncing the word Pompano: Pom-pa-no—Pomp-a-no. I tend to do this just about anywhere in the south.

It’s been such a wonderful gift, having the opportunity to share my stories with people and to try and make new friends—to see the United States with my own eyes. I have just four more shows left on this tour, before I head back to Southern California and play a show in Long Beach on November 26th at Vine on 4th Street. I’ll try and keep you posted on that if you’d like to come out. I’d love to see you.

The Mid-West Tour Continues!

Ann Arbor, Michigan: you are immensely fun—and so honest!

We had a blast last night. I’m off to play Holly, Michigan today opening for my friend Jeremy Facknitz.

I’m very much excited to be heading back to North Carolina this next week, before continuing my rounds into Tennessee to play both Chattanooga and Nashville. Hope to see you there.

Friends, I have been working diligently to create and propagate the good vibes all over the United States. I write this to you from Lincoln, Nebraska—caffeinated. I have, at present, released 4 singles out of 13 from my latest album called DESERT DOGS: “The Needle of the Human Race,” The Jungle,” Coyote,” and “Drunk on Your Mystique.” I have a fifth single coming out on Friday August 18th called “Mark Twain.” It is the story of Mark Twain and Halley’s Comet. In his own words:

“I came in with Halley’s Comet,” Mark Twain commented in 1909. “It is coming again next year. The Almighty has said, no doubt, ‘Now there are these two unaccountable freaks; they came in together, they must go out together.’”

He passed away on April 21 1910, one day after the comet had reached it’s perihelion. Coincidentally, April 21st 1979, is the day I was born. “It’s a loose affiliation of millionaires and billionaires and babies… and these are the days of miracles and wonder.”

For me, a meaningful life is having the opportunity to make friends everywhere on this planet and to tell stories, in song and banter, to those around me who find joy in them. I am doing that now. United States Tour 2023

Booking Three United States Tours for 2023

Friends: I am working on booking several tours for 2023 at the moment, but the most immediate is a June 2023 tour through Nevada, Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, Washington, Oregon, and back down California. I just booked my first show for the tour:

Saturday June 17th - Targhee House of Tunes in Driggs, Idaho

I am looking for house concerts, venues, coffeeshops, shopping malls, street corners, restaurants, bars, and any valuable opportunities for me to find people that might like my music, on either side of this date. For routing purposes, a show in Salt Lake City, Utah on Friday June 16th would be delightful. Perhaps a show in St. George on Thursday June 15th, and a show in Las Vegas on Wednesday June 14th.

On the other side of this date, I would love to make a show in Montana or Wyoming happen (or both). I have never been to either of those states, which is criminal. Please, someone either arrest me or help me to change that.

I would then love to swing into Washington and Oregon before heading back down California to Los Angeles.

If there is one thing I can say with certainty at nearly 44 years old: we do great things together and I can use your help if you have any to provide.

I am releasing my new album DESERT DOGS this year, single by single. One song per month. I hope that I am able to find ears that will appreciate what soul and life experience I had to put into its contents. I worked the hardest I ever had on this album, and hope that it shows to those who listen.

I just recently added a show date in Denver, Colorado on July 15th and a show in Grand Island, Nebraska on July 16th.

Additionally, I added a show in Las Cruces, New Mexico on November 11th and I will be adding a Florida date to the calendar in the last week of October. My current Bandsintown show calendar has a listing of these show dates below.

Touring is quite an expense. My dream is to tour with a band. However, I think it is well within the realm of possibility to tour with a smaller ensemble—perhaps as an acoustic duo. If you are interested in helping me to accomplish this, I am trying to raise money to tour as a duo. This is not charity. Anyone who contributes will receive a copy of my newest album DESERT DOGS, which I will be releasing single by single every month. I will send both a download code that can be redeemed on BANDCAMP as well as a private streaming link that can be used on Soundcloud.
