The Incredible Work in Progress
So, I am planning on producing a song for you, right before your ears—slight of hand—if you’re into that.
The song is called “The Incredible Shrinking Brain.” This one in particular has been very fun to make, because I have been writing everything at the same time: the chords, lyrics, drums, guitars, bass, synth, etc. As of tonight, I was just trying to add more production to it, because there were holes in the tune, and I had panned the instrument arrangement and panning in the previous mix, in order to make room for another electric guitar track—however, I decided to abandon that idea altogether in favor of more synthesizers.
Here is a link to listen to the latest iteration of the tune. I added synths to the second and third chorus, cleaned up the tambourine with a gate, rewrote the bass line to fit the kick pattern in the bridge, and adjusted the panning, as I mentioned previously, in order to improve the stereo field. I also did some more fine tuning on EQ.
Trust me, it needs more work. I had a few hours to toss at it today while consulting the advice of a few beers.
Please keep in mind that this is a private link, so this is the only way to get to this song, aside from some links I’ve posted on social med
It would be lovely to hear what you think.
Happy Sunday and please, have a wonderful Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. God bless that man for what he did. This song is in honor of his spirit, and towards the many others who have reshaped human thinking towards a more compassionate and empathic state of being, as it pertains to humans and animals alike.
